I grew up with my grandparents, and they shaped the way I understand home, family and independence. When my grandfather was living with dementia, a fall led to a stay in rehabilitation. I worked to make his home safer so he could return, but he fell again before he was discharged and had to remain in rehab. Sadly, he later died there as the disease progressed.
My family later faced a similar experience with my wife's grandfather, whom we lost to dementia in February 2026. Watching two families navigate dementia, falls and changing care needs showed me how quickly plans can change and how difficult it can be to know what to address first.
I founded Home Safe Advisor to help families identify hazards earlier, understand practical options and take organized steps toward a safer home. The goal is not to replace caregivers, medical professionals or licensed contractors. It is to provide careful observations, useful guidance, dependable household support and help coordinating the next step.
