Our primary focus

Aging-in-place assessments with practical follow-up support

We begin by understanding the older adult, the home and the family's concerns. The assessment identifies priorities, and visit options can then be built around the recommendations, available resources and ongoing household needs.

Home Security & Emergency-Readiness Review

Security and emergency considerations are reviewed as part of the home assessment so the family has a more complete picture of the property.

  • Doors, windows, locks and exterior visibility
  • Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms
  • Emergency contacts and response planning
  • Security technology and scam-awareness needs

Recurring Aging-in-Place Visits

Weekly, biweekly, monthly or custom visits can help families follow through on assessment priorities and keep an eye on changing household conditions.

  • Safety and household check-ins
  • Follow-up on open recommendations
  • Family updates when requested
  • Seasonal and preventive checklists

Resource Navigation & Follow-Through

We help families organize the next steps after an assessment and identify possible public, nonprofit, clinical or contractor resources when appropriate.

  • Clear action lists organized by priority
  • Possible community and assistance programs
  • Referrals for licensed or specialized work
  • Follow-up after repairs or modifications

The assessment

A whole-home look at safety, security and daily living

The assessment is centered on aging in place. We document observable concerns, discuss practical priorities and identify where a licensed, clinical or specialized professional may be needed.

Fall prevention & mobility

Walking paths, flooring, stairs, bathrooms, railings, lighting and other conditions that may affect safe movement through the home.

Home security

Doors, windows, locks, exterior visibility, access practices and security technology that may help the older adult feel safer at home.

Fire & emergency readiness

Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, escape considerations, emergency contacts, lighting and other preparedness needs.

Daily living & home upkeep

Ease of use, household routines, maintenance concerns, technology needs and tasks that may be included in recurring visits.

What the family receives

A discussion of concerns, an on-site review, documented observations, prioritized recommendations, possible resource categories and a clear starting point for one-time improvements or ongoing visit support.

Resource navigation

Private guidance that works alongside public and nonprofit programs

Home Safe Advisor is an independent private company. We can help families organize needs, identify possible resources and coordinate next steps. We do not represent Baltimore County, determine program eligibility or guarantee funding, approval or service availability.

Organize the priorities

Separate immediate safety concerns, routine household needs, licensed repair work, accessibility improvements and issues that may require clinical guidance.

Identify possible resources

For Baltimore County households, possible starting points may include Maryland Access Point, the BCAUSE program and other public or nonprofit home-support resources.

Coordinate appropriate providers

When the need is outside our scope, we can help the family identify questions to ask a licensed contractor, occupational therapist, home-care provider or other qualified professional.

Follow through after the visit

Recurring visits can help track open recommendations, document completed work and identify changes that may affect the older adult's safety or household routines.

Program notice

Eligibility, services, funding, wait times and final decisions are controlled by each public or nonprofit organization. Families may contact those organizations directly at no cost.

Aging-in-place visit options

Choose the level of follow-up that fits the older adult and family
